Constants
A collection of real numbers used in combination with variables using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to create an algebraic expression.
Conjugates
Two expressions that differ only in sign between the terms. The product of two conjugates is the difference of two squares.
Complex conjugates
Two pairs of complex numbers that differ only in sign between the terms. The product of two complex conjugates is the difference of two squares.
Completing the square
The process of adding $(b/2)^2$, which is the square of half of the coefficient of $x$ in the expression $x^2 + bx$, to the expression. Consequently, \({x^2} + bx + {\left( {\frac{b}{2}} \right)^2} = {\left( {x + \frac{b}{2}} \right)^2}\).
Cube root
When $n = 3$ in \(a = {b^n}\).
Coordinates
The numbers in an ordered pair that locate a point on a coordinate system.
Constant term
The number $a_0$ in a polynomial in $x$.
Consistent system
A system of equations with exactly one solution. The slopes of the lines are not equal.
Composite number
Integer greater than 1 with more than two factors.
Complex number
A number of the form $a + bi$ where $a$ and $b$ are real numbers.
